How to compress an image

  1. Drop your images above (JPG, PNG, or WebP) — one or a whole batch.

Compress an image to an exact size (KB)

Upload forms, email limits, and government or job portals often demand a specific size — "under 100 KB", "below 2 MB". Switch to Target size, type the number, and the tool finds the right quality to land just under it. If even the lowest quality can't reach your target at full resolution, it automatically scales the image down until it fits — so "compress to 20 KB" actually works, even on a big photo.

Resize by dimensions or percentage

Need to change the dimensions instead of the file size? Use Resize to set a maximum width/height, or scale by a percentage — both keep the original proportions so nothing gets stretched. Great for shrinking huge camera images for the web or email — and you can combine it with compression to control size and dimensions at once.

Private by design — nothing is uploaded

Most popular compressors (TinyPNG, iLoveIMG, Compressor.io) upload your images to their servers to process them. This one doesn't. Everything runs in your browser using the browser's own image engine, so your photos never leave your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads. That's a real difference for personal photos, screenshots, and work documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compress an image to a specific KB size?

Yes — that's the point of Target size mode. Enter a size in KB and the tool searches for the quality that lands just under it, automatically resizing down if needed to hit very small targets.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All compression and resizing happen in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Will compressing lose quality?

Compression trades some quality for a smaller file — you control how much with the Quality slider. At higher settings the difference is imperceptible. Resizing to smaller dimensions also reduces size with no visible loss at the new size.

Can I resize instead of (or as well as) compress?

Yes. Use the Resize option for a max dimension or a percentage — both keep the original aspect ratio — on its own or combined with compression.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes — drop as many as you like, compress them together, and download the whole batch as a single ZIP. There are no file limits.

What formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, and WebP in and out. You can keep the original format or convert between them for a smaller result.
